Another use for Yarram's quilt!
These pages now include a Virtual Exhibition that shows some of the items at our very
successful exhibition for Mental Health Week 2001 and
World Mental Health Day at Sale.
As part of that exhibition, we have commenced an exciting Banner Project for International Rural Women's Day, in
conjection with the CWA
We also now have block by block
lists of what is in
Quilt One and Quilt Two

On 7 Nov 2001 our project received an award for Social Sustainability as part of
"The Other Awards", from the Centre for Rural Communities. This award takes the
form of a Special Teapot, as many problems would be solved if people would sit around a
teapot and talk.

These pages are about SNAP Inc at Sale,
who are hosting an exciting Quilting Project.
In 2001, Australia is celebrating One Hundred Years of Federation, the coming together of the states to form the Commonwealth of Australia.
As part of these celebrations, SNAP has been funded to carry out a Friendship Quilting Project.
Friendship Quilts are made from individual blocks made by different people, and are then put together to make quilts.
A "block" is a square of made-up patchwork, in this case ten inches square, or about 22cm
We started to put the quilts together in Mental Health Week on 12 October 2000, and exhibited them in Mental Health Week in 2001.

Above: A crazy patchwork block, made from the
inside lining of ties.
These are the bits that other patchworkers throw away, but for us, despite the creases,
they make a powerful block.
Just like Australia, a quilt can be made up of all sorts of pieces.
